Welcome to the Golden Gate Running Club of San Francisco!

The Golden Gate Running Club is a group of runners in San Francisco, California with a whole host of running abilities — we run the gamut. Club members compete in adventure races, marathons, relays, 10Ks, and triathlons, to name just a few. Not competitive? Many of our members just enjoy running once or twice a week, for either the fitness or the enjoyment of it.

Come join us for our Sunday morning runs at the Warming Hut near the fishing pier at the western end of Crissy Field (we have a 10 am start so one may fully enjoy the previous evening) followed by our customary brunch thereafter. Two groups leave at this time, a short course (about 5 miles) and a long course (up to 12 miles). We modify runs, pace, and distance to fit the runners present. Wednesday night we host a coached track workout at Kezar Stadium, meeting at the southeast corner of the track at 7p.m. Runners of all ability levels participate in this as well.

We run hard and we play hard. Members have placed very highly in many events in the state and nation. In a recent group relay (Hood to Coast — lots of fun!), we placed 23rd in a field of 283. We're a supportive and encouraging group of runners. We hold no expectations of ability; group runs have a "no drop" rule. During races, we place more emphasis on completing the event with no injuries and having fun than getting the "medal". If you're looking for a low-stress running club, to have fun, exercise, and meet new people, this is the club for you. Come join us for a run and check us out. We would love to meet you!

For more information, see Who We Are, or join our Yahoo! or Facebook Group and watch for emails. Hope to see you out there!

Come join us on Saturday, March 21st at the San Francisco Italian Athletic Club located on Washington Square in North Beach. Evenings festivities begin at 7 pm with a short cocktail party aka wine pouring and then dinner to promptly begin service at 7:30. Tony will be cooking up a nice four course meal for us complete with salad, pasta, meat (or veggie), and something a bit sweet. Hey Runners,

So we have a little change of pace for this Sunday! Oh, you'll still get to go for a run around the Presidio, but save a few breaths for the annual GGRC Feats of Strength. It's essential that you bring along a towel or mat so that you can get down and dirty with some great strength training exercises to work a few of those other muscles that compliment all of your runnin' guns. There's a competition at the end of the training and someone will be lay claim to King and Queen of the Feats.

Also, best goes out to the fearsome GGRC'ers who are heading to the Oakland hills to run the Sequoia trail race. Always a good turnout for us and I hope it's a mighty muddy time for all.
